Shock and Awe-ful fishing

An Dinh

So 3 guys walk into a stream...

problem is, I was already fishing this stretch.  A fellow angler, Trent, had the same thing happen a few hours earlier in a lower section of the same stream.

Turns out these guys were sampling the stream for bugs and then were shocking the trout and doing a tally.   So they didn't much care that the lane I was fishing got muddied up and the fish were put down.  They probably figured they were all gonna be post-concussive soon anyway.

River Log - an annoying angler keeps looking over my shoulder hoping I might reveal where some big fish are hiding.

It's a curious process - they paint the river bottom with red paint where they sample

Needless to say the fishing was slow.  So I ran down to a section of pocket water far below where they were working and caught this fine brown under a little drop off.

When I asked them about their shocking results in the upper section they said there were many 10 inch fish with only a few up to 16 inches.

At lunch I tried fishing a stream just a few miles away.  But when I got in the water, I noticed the tell tale red paint mark in the stream bed.  Ugh, they must have sampled this river too.  So these guys too were still recovering from their electrocution and were a little tight lipped.
