Gear Up! Orvis Dropper Box - or is it a modern Tenkara line spool?

Tenkara anglers will do a double take when they see this dropper box.  It has the familiar yellow foam and blue plastic of the Mieho japanese line holders that are ubiquitous in the Tenkara world.

And yes, they are manufactured in Japan by Mieho.

I first spotted this kit on the Gink and Gasoline blog in a post about keeping a backup nymph rig ready.

They look so much like a traditional Tenkara bamboo line holder - check out Jason Klass' post here.

Orvis has basically put their logo on the box of five line holders, but everything else is in japanese.

Keeping pre-rigged lines organized is very easy.

Built in foam notches keep your flies locked in tight.

They work great for tenkara lines and also traditional western multi fly rigs.  It is a huge benefit in the winter to have pre-rigged lines or droppers - it means quicker change outs, less frost bite and more time fishing.

You can pick up a box from Orvis.
